Naramatisho Women's Centre

Welcome to Naramatisho Women's Centre, an initiative under the Pastoral Women Council (PWC). Our centre is a community-run space near Arusha, Tanzania providing Indigenous pastoralist women with the resources and opportunities to earn income and create better opportunities for themselves and their families.

The Meaning

"Naramatisho" is the spirit of a woman who carries everything and is not defined by what she lacks, but by how much she gives.
What We Offer

A Celebration of Pastoral Culture

Key Commitments

Our Promise

Naramatisho Women’s Centre is both a vibrant cultural landmark and a sustainable social enterprise. By weaving together cultural tourism, artisan sales, guest accommodations, and educational programs, the Centre generates reliable income that directly supports the mission of Pastoral Women’s Council (PWC). Our model empowers women economically, safeguards Indigenous knowledge, and reinvests a significant portion of all profits into girls’ education, creating a sustainable cycle of impact that uplifts the entire community.

Revenue Generation

Through tourism, artisan crafts, cultural activities, and lodging, we build a stable financial foundation.

Cultural Preservation

We document, share, and celebrate the knowledge and traditions of Maasai and Pastoralist women.

Girls’ Education

Profits are reinvested into scholarships, school supplies, and mentorship programs for girls.

Women’s Empowerment

Women lead every aspect of the Centre, as hosts, educators, cooks, and entrepreneurs, creating positive change from within.

OUR OFFERS

We offer comfortable rooms, fresh local coffee, and home-cooked meals. But what you experience here goes beyond that.

At Naramatisho, you spend time with the people who live this life every day. You can learn about our local traditions, hear stories, walk the land, and take part in daily activities led by pastoralist women. Most guests leave with more than a stay, they leave with a better understanding of our community and a real connection to our pastoralist way of life.
